The areas that appear
the clearest in this photograph is the central part of the sky, where it comes
from yellow, to white, to red and then to blue, as it fades through the clouds.
The light in this image
is all completely natural. There is no artificial light in this photograph as
it was taken outside. The light is coming from the sunset in the direction of
Manchester Airport, which is in a North Western direction.
Even thought they are
not actual lines in the photographs the clouds create the sense of lines, they
are more like brush strokes. The black parts in the photograph, which create
the silhouette, also create the lines of the horizon.
There is no repetition
within this photograph as there are multiple different colours.
As you can see way into
the distance in the image it creates the effect that it is 3D, also because the
houses are on an angle and going down towards the edge of the photograph. There
is depth in the image as you can see the horizon way off into the distance, and
the sky looks as if it is on different levels.
If I were to feel this
image it would feel as if it would feel like cotton wool. The tone of this
image goes from dark to light to dark again.
The colours in this
image are very cool, with the yellows and the blues with the little bit of red
in the middle of the sky.
If I was to put a Rule
of Thirds grid on this image, the bottom of the image with the silhouette of
the houses would be in the bottom row of squares, then the bit of the sky with
the yellow and red patch, would be in the middle row of the photograph.
To capture this image I
used a 18-55mm lens with a Canon 1100D. The settings I had to capture this
image was an aperture at f/4.5, the reason I had the aperture set at this is
because it allows more light in. Because I set the Shutter speed at 1/60 is was
only exposed for a very small amount of time. And the ISO was set at 200 as I
thought it looked the best at this from the couple of different photos that I
took with different ISO numbers. The white balance on this image was set on
auto. The lighting on this image was all completely natural, as the flash
didn’t fire when I took it; the only light that is on this image is from the
sunset.
When I took this image
is was just about getting the that stage in the year when it was leaving autumn
behind and fading into winter, it was still in the warm stage, and it was just
about to turn cold. When I look at this image it makes me feel at wintery
because I know that the weather is changing and the cold nights are setting in
for the winter.
